About the Museum
The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Art Museum on Waterloo Road was originally the lobby of Kwong Wah Hospital. It was completed in 1911. It was the first hospital built in Kowloon and the New Territories. Since its opening, it has been providing Chinese and Western medical services to the community. In 1970, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals celebrated its 100th anniversary and turned the lobby of Kwong Wah Hospital into the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Art Museum to preserve the hospital's historical archives and cultural relics. The Art Museum has been open to the public since 1993 and was declared a statutory monument by the government on November 12, 2010.
